# NewsCatcher API

> Search the world's news in any language, or let the agent research events and companies for you.

NewsCatcher gives your application and your AI agents two ways to work with
the news. Both use one API key and one credit balance.

> [card] [News API](/docs/news/quickstart.md)
>
> Ask in plain words or keywords and get the best articles of the last 30
> days in seconds, ranked and grouped into stories.

> [card] [Agent](/docs/agent/quickstart.md)
>
> Describe the events you need, or give a list of companies. The agent
> researches in the background and returns a table, once or on a schedule.

## Which one do I need?

| You want | Use | Answer in |
| - | - | - |
| The top articles about something, right now | [`/search`](/docs/news/quickstart) | Seconds |
| Every article of one story | [`/stories/{story_id}`](/docs/news/stories) | Seconds |
| A table of events, for example every bank M\&A deal since September 15 | [Event research](/docs/agent/event-research.md) | Minutes, by mode |
| The news about each company in a list | [Company research](/docs/agent/company-research.md) | Minutes |
| New events or company news delivered hourly, daily or weekly | [Monitors](/docs/agent/monitors.md) | On a schedule |

See [Choose an API](/docs/get-started/choose-an-api.md) for the full comparison.
