A story is the group of articles that report the same event. Every search result says which story it belongs to and how many newsrooms cover it:
newsrooms is the number of distinct publishers that cover the story. It is part of the ranking: a story many newsrooms carry ranks higher.

Repeated articles of one story

collapse decides what happens when several results belong to one story: Copies of one article are always one result, whatever collapse says. At effort=high, stories that report the same event are also merged.

Only widely covered stories

min_newsrooms keeps only stories carried by at least that many newsrooms:

Every article of a story

Pass a result’s story.id to GET /stories/{story_id}:
  • Articles come best sources first. limit returns 1 to 500 of them.
  • first_seen and last_seen are the publication times of the earliest and the latest article.
  • A successful request costs 1 NCC, whatever the number of articles.
  • Story pages must be on in your plan: check story.enabled in GET /subscription. An unknown story gets 404.
